Peru Nueva Esperanza

Nueva Esperanza, "New Hope", a farm shaded by native trees and framed by the Andes. At this altitude, in cool mountain air, the cherries ripen slowly, building the density and clarity that define the lot.Nueva Esperanza is the work of Alcivides Venero, a grower and educator who inherited the farm from his family. Alongside producing coffee, he shares his cultivation knowledge with younger growers, helping carry forward both the region's coffee culture and the next generation of specialty producers.

SL09 is grown almost entirely in Peru, where it's known as gesha inca, a rare variety traced back to an obscure 1930s Kenyan selection from Scott Laboratories. The coffee is fully washed in the traditional way, ripe cherries handpicked, fermented for 48 hours, washed clean, then dried slowly on raised beds. The result is precise and transparent, a clear window into the rare SL09 variety.
